Our Snack Menu at The Olive Tree, Day Nursery & Pre-School
At The Olive Tree, we believe that nutritious, balanced meals are an essential part of every child’s development. Our menus are thoughtfully designed to meet the latest portion sizes and traffic-light nutritional guidance and are fully compliant with the updated EYFS Nutrition Guidance (2025).
We’re proud to have a dedicated, trained staff who prepares every snack from scratch each day. Our staff caters for all dietary needs, allergies, intolerances, and parental preferences.
All meals are prepared in a nut-free kitchen using fresh, high-quality ingredients.
Our menus are built around whole foods — fresh vegetables, fruits, grains, and proteins — providing the right balance of nutrients to support children’s healthy growth.
Where possible, we use seasonal and locally sourced produce to give your child the very best start in life.
We’re passionate about helping children develop lifelong healthy eating habits. We involve children in learning about food and encourage them to explore a wide variety of tastes and textures.
Look out for our delicious recipes and practical tips for families!
Snack times at The Olive Tree are calm, sociable, and inclusive. Children and practitioners sit together, encouraging conversation and independence.
Children over two years are encouraged to self-serve, building confidence and fine-motor skills.
Fresh drinking water is available to children at all times, and milk is served with morning and afternoon snacks. We encourage children to listen to their bodies and stay hydrated throughout the day.
We love working in partnership with families to promote healthy habits at home.Â
We share simple, nutritious recipes and mealtime tips to help make healthy eating fun for the whole family.
Food is a wonderful way to celebrate diversity. Throughout the year, children enjoy themed dishes linked to festivals and events — from Eid to Chinese New Year, Pancake Day, and Christmas — helping them learn about the world through taste and tradition.
Every child is unique, and so are their snack time needs. That’s why we offer seasonal four-week rotating menus, designed to reflect different dietary preferences, stages of development, and family values.
All menus are free from added salt and sugar, and balanced to include:
Our approach draws on guidance from the Children’s Food Trust and the Government’s Under-5s Menu Planning Guide.
Every day at The Olive Tree follows a carefully planned schedule to ensure children receive balanced nutrition throughout their day.
