The Olive Tree Environment
At The Olive Tree we believe that every child should feel accepted, confident, and valued. The Olive Tree team ensures that a warm and accepting atmosphere is created at all times where children feel loved and supported. We interact with children sensitively, encouraging the children to express their emotions safely by being empathetic and understanding.
We create positive experiences that are enriching and inspirational in a stimulating and supportive environment.

INDOOR ENVIRONMENT
An enabling environment plays a key role in supporting children’s learning and development across all seven areas of the EYFS, which we deliver.
At The Olive Tree Nursery, our indoor environment provides a varied and safe space in which children can play, explore and learn. Giving children the physical and mental space in which to enable learning in a safe environment which is key to their growth.
We believe that children learn and develop best in caring, supportive environments which respond to their individual needs. Our enabling environment ensures that children grow and develop to be ‘resilient, capable, confident and self-assured’.
Our indoor space has been planned carefully to allow flexibility to accommodate children’s changing interests and needs. A suitable environment for a young child will be very different from a suitable environment for a four or five year old although some features will be the same.
3 months to 12 months
Our Baby Room will provide a calming and homely environment, supporting your
baby’s first steps into Nursery and helping your baby to settle into a routine that
supports them to grow and flourish. Each baby has a named key person who knows
them well and understands and plans for their individual needs.
12 months to 2 years
Our Sprouting Olives Room will be our next step from our baby room. In this room we
will focus on the developmental changes in babies between the age of 12 months
and two years and supports the children into their further transition to our Little Olives
2-3 year old room.
2 to 3 year olds
Our Little Olives Room is set in a sensitively stimulating and safe environment where
children are supported and encouraged to learn and develop at their own pace. The
room consists of defined areas which are well resourced and suitable for the age and
stage of the children in the room.
3 to 5 year olds
The Preschool room provides an environment that encourages curiosity and
exploration, where children can take their own ideas and follow their own interests
whilst our Early Years team teach and enable children to extend their knowledge and
skills.
Maria Montessori:
“Adults admire their environment; they can remember it and think about it – but a child absorbs it. The things he sees are not just remembered; they form part of his soul. He incarnates in himself all in the world about him that his eyes see and his ears hear”.
